I am not sure whether this will work or not, but youc an try: there is a boring way of doing that which is adding + signs for each character and adding a * at the end. + is used for one character.

For example, in order to list the description  longer than 3 characters, you need to enter +++*

And you can do this in SE16N and click on "Number of entries" button to see whether this works or not.
